258 New High Paying Jobs Slated for Charlotte, NC

There’s good news on the employment front for Charlotte, North Carolina!  Citco Fund Services (USA) Inc., the world’s largest hedge fund administrator, announced it will invest $3 million in their new offices in uptown Charlotte, located at the Charlotte Plaza tower on College Street.

The company will be bringing 258 high-paying, financial service jobs to Charlotte over the next five years, including: operations analysts, fund accountants and account managers, with an average salary of $78,000.  Citco Fund, a member of the Citco Group, currently has 4,000 employees in 37 countries.

North Carolina state officials, including:  N.C. Commerce Secretary Keith Crisco, Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx, Charlotte Chamber Chairman and Bank of America Corp. executive David Darnell and others announced on Thursday they will offer $5.5 million in incentives over the next six years if the group meets its hiring goals.

According to Jay Peller, Citco’s Chief Operating Officer, the tax incentives along with Charlotte’s experienced labor pool, low cost of living, housing market and access to east coast clients were key factors in why Charlotte was chosen for their new offices. 

Citco’s decision to open in Charlotte shows the city is emerging from the recession says Mayor Foxx.  In the past two years, officials have announced expansions by GMAC Financial Services, the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America, Zenta and Fifth Third Bancorp’s relocation to new offices uptown.

Mecklenburg County, the Charlotte Regional Partnership, the city of Charlotte, Charlotte Center City Partners, the Charlotte Chamber, the N.C. Department of Commerce, N.C. Community College System and the N.C. Employment Security Commission all assisted in this project.
