Electrolux American Headquarters Chooses Charlotte, NC
Swedish appliance maker Electrolux plans to move its North American headquarters to the “Queen City” in 2010, bringing 738 jobs with them. The company will consolidate a number of its U.S. corporate office operations into one location and will be the largest headquarters relocation in Charlotte in the last 25 years. Electrolux has become a household name for its vacuum cleaners, washers/dryers and kitchen appliances, which generate $15 billion in worldwide sales.
Why Electrolux Chose Charlotte, NC
Charlotte was chosen for Electrolux’s new headquarters for several reasons. “Charlotte is consistently ranked as one of the best cities in which to live and work in the U.S., and it provides great access to road, rail and air transportation. Charlotte is also a center for business, finance and technology, and the educational and housing resources in the area are outstanding, as are the cultural, recreational and sports activities” says Kevin Scott, CEO of Electrolux Major Appliances North America.
“The state, along with the county and city, were very helpful in working with us to find the incentives that made this the right choice for Electrolux,” says Scott. “We are very pleased to become part of this great community.” New jobs will result in an overall annual payroll in excess of $60 million a year.
The company will receive a grant of $1.2 million from the One North Carolina Fund, used to assist in industrial recruitment and expansion. It was also awarded a Job Development Investment Grant by the states’ Economic Investment Committee.
