We hope you’re enjoying this wonderful long weekend and taking time to appreciate those who have defended and continue to defend our freedoms in this fine country.

In the real estate world, there are a few ways that we express our appreciation to veterans and current service members.

If you’re a current or past military service member, be sure to take a look at these excellent money-saving programs before you purchase:

VA Home Loans

This special financing program gives our nation’s heroes some of the lowest mortgage rates available. They also offer flexible credit requirements, a no down payment option, and both fixed rate and adjustable rate mortgages.

Veterans, reservists, and active service members who take advantage of this program may also qualify for loan modification or an easier repayment plan if needed. You may also be eligible for financial support from the US Department of Veterans Affairs in the event you encounter financial trouble down the road.

Soldiers and Sailors Civil Relief Act

This program was designed to assist military service members in providing for their loved ones back at home. It includes reduced mortgage rates and delayed foreclosure actions, in case you’re having trouble meeting your financial obligations while deployed.

The Soldiers and Sailors Civil Relief Act also protects service members who are renting from being evicted and includes a provision for early lease termination for renters who need out of their leases because of being sent abroad.

The men and women who fight for our country are heroes and we’re very proud of them. These programs are the least we can do to help ensure that veterans, reservists, and active military service members always have a roof over their heads and a place to call home.
