“Realtors Build Communities and there is no better time to do that in Haiti.”
According to United Nations data issued on Tuesday, more than 1.2 billion dollars have already been pledged in aid funding to devastated Haiti, struggling to recover from last week’s deadly earthquake.
International organizations, individuals, countries and private companies have generously donated funds while others have helped by sending experts and tons of relief to Haiti.
The REALTORS® Relief Foundation
The National Association of Realtors®’s Relief Foundation has also generously stepped up to the plate in donations for Hiati’s countless vicitims.
The Foundation was created in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Centers and the Pentagon. In 2005, the Foundation rallied up again with a donation of 1.5 million, when Hurricane Katrina pummeled Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi, leaving thousands of causalities and countless people homeless.
NAR and Lowe’s Join Forces for Haiti
In response to Haiti’s recent earthquake and desperately needed aid, The National Association of Realtors® and Lowe’s, a partner in NAR’s REALTOR Benefit® Program, have joined forces to contribute immediate relief to Haiti’s victims.
According to National Association of Realtors®, NAR and Lowe’s will each donate 100,000 to the REALTORS® Relief Foundation, which will in turn distribute the money to charitable organizations aiding Haitian earthquake victims.
$50,000 of that money will be donated to The Harvest of Haiti, founded by Patrick Moore, a 2007 winner of REALTOR® Magazine’s Good Neighbor Awards. Moore’s humanitarian outreach program delivers clean water and supports the care of orphans in Haiti.
“Lowe’s is proud of our association with the Good Neighbor Awards and we hope this support for Realtors® providing relief in Haiti can help make a difference” Says Mark Malone, vice president of Consumer Marketing at Lowe’s.
Donations
Realtors are being asked to make donations for Haitian victims through the REALTORS® Relief Foundation, non of which will go to NAR administrative costs. NAR members and others who wish to make a donation should go to www.realtor.org/relief and complete the contribution form.
