Want to Sell Your Charlotte NC Home Quicker? Amp up the Curb Appeal!

In today’s market, Charlotte, NC homes for sale need every advantage they can get and any Charlotte Realtor® worth their salt will tell you that a home with curb appeal is a lot easier to sell!

The old adage “Never judge a book by its cover” really doesn’t fly when it comes to selling your Charlotte, NC home.  First impressions are everything.  Within a minute, maybe two, a buyer will have already sized up your Charlotte, NC home for sale before they’ve even walked through the front door!

Many sellers put all their attention on making the inside of their home look pristine perfect, yet forget about how it looks from the outside.  Creating curb appeal is how sellers get buyers inside and what many sellers don’t realize is how easy it is to do!

Here are a few ways you can amp up your home’s curb appeal and get it sold quicker:

  • Tidy up the grounds – Put away or get rid of tired looking outdoor furniture. Remove unsightly garbage cans, recycling bins or junk piles.  Bikes, toys or anything else not being used should be stored out of site.
  • Pretty up the landscaping – Keep the lawn mowed and well manicured. Make sure plants and shrubs are neatly trimmed back.  Add fresh mulch or bark and plant colorful flowers.  Pull the weeds and rake the leaves.
  • Freshen it up with paint – Give the exterior of your home an instant face lift with a coat of fresh paint.  At the very least, paint the trim, window panes, shutters, mail box and so forth.
  • Let there be light – Add outdoor lighting leading up to your front door.  For a dramatic effect, up-light trees, shrubs, architectural details or other focal points.  If you already have outdoor lighting, replace any rusted out or broken heads that don’t work.
  • Don’t forget the windows – Clean and polish the windows.  Hose down dirty screens and replace any that are torn or missing.  Remove decals and stickers.  Replace faded or dated looking curtains, drapes and broken blinds.
  • Clean out the gutters – Remove dead leaves and debris.  Repair or replace faulty gutters.
  • Do up the door – Replace the entire door with an updated look or give it a fresh coat of paint.  Get rid of seasonally incorrect wreaths or tacky door decorations.  Replace old hardware with new and oil the hinges.  Replace peeling or cracked weather stripping around the doorway.  Usher them in with a welcome mat.
  • Tend to the fence – Give it a fresh coat of paint. Replace any broken slats.
  • Give your garage door a lift – Replace or repair a broken door.  Give it a fresh coat of paint.  Make sure the opener and controls are working properly.

These easy ”DIY” curb appeal projects will pay off two-fold when it comes to selling your Charlotte, NC home
