Leigh Brown, the best Charlotte agent, has a new feature on WBT.com that has sellers sitting up and paying attention.
She recently gave an interview discussing why homes aren’t selling and what sellers should be doing about it.
“Do you want an honest opinion?” Leigh asked. “If you want one, I’ve got one, and that’s why I’m selling a house every 2.6 days. We are dead-flat honest with our clients about what it takes to succeed in today’s crazy real estate market. Houses are still selling; the question you have to ask is if the problem is you or the problem is the market.”
This information may come as a shock to clients who have been told by their Realtors that the market is simply too sluggish to expect a quick and lucrative sale. Leigh’s take? Stop making excuses; the problem might not be with the market but with the people who are selling your home.
“If you had any idea how Realtors gossip and chat about listings,” said Leigh, “where it looks like somebody was speeding away from the house when they snapped the picture, or incomplete data… all those things that make us giggle and snort, and are the reasons the buyer may not choose to visit your home while they’re out looking.”
The key is having a real estate agent in your corner who is passionate about your home and knowledgeable about how to get the job done in today’s market conditions. Let’s face it: the market is not what it used to be and Realtors who have stuck their heads in the sand in the hopes that things will “go back to the way they were” are not doing their clients – or themselves – any favors.
